whenever i wake up n the morning, i have no feeling and control over my hands and arms for about 20 to 40 seconds. I know im wide awake but i can barely even lift up my arms until about 30 seconds after i wake up. This happens about 2 0r 3 times a week and i usually have this when i dont have dinner the night. Its been happening ever since last summer.im only 16 and in pretty good shape. is this healthy and what causes it?Whenever i wake up n the morning, i have no feeling and control over my hands and arms for about 20 to 40 sec.
If, as you state, this seems to usually happen when you skip dinner, then it could be a result of a drop in your blood sugar. A drop in blood sugar can cause a multitude of problems and will eventually overstress your pancreas and adrenal glands, which is something that you definitely don't want.

Eat dinner (you need to finish eating a complete meal 2 1/2 to 3 hours for proper digestion to occur before you go to sleep) or at the least a snack (which can be consumed 45 minutes to 1 hour before bedtime) on a consistent basis and see if the problem goes away. You might want to try a good protein shake either as a meal substitue or the snack.

It's important to eat a very healthy diet throughout your life. It is especially crucial at present since you are still maturing. Your brain will not finish completely developing until the age of 21-22. It is essential that you get on the right track with a healthy diet NOW in order to not pay a steep price with your health at a later date. Basically, eat real food and avoid junk, processed food and, most importantly, sugar.

The other possibility--yes, as stated from others, you may be sleeping in a position that is affecting some of the nerves in your neck and arms. Make sure that you have a good pillow, that provides adequate support for your neck, and that your mattress has the correct firmness.

If the problem does not go away, see your doctor.

Good luck and best of health.

that happens to me all the time.

it's not your diet.

it's the position in which you are sleeping.

it makes the limbs numb, an when u finally can move them, you feel like.... almost a burning in the muscles right??

u were sleeping wrong an went numb!!!!!

before u go to sleep tonight.

try to totally change from your normal position so that your not sleeping on your hands or ams.

it'll work.

try it!!!
Sometimes it is the way you sleep- depending on the position. If your arm is under pressure, the circulation is being cut off so it is going to ';sleep';.

If it is not from sleeping habits, you need to see a doctor.
It happens once in a while to people who are heavily stressed. Tell your school counselor and see if he can suggest a counselor. You will get better so don't get any ideas about suicide
I don't know if it helps or if I'm even right but I've heard of restless leg syndrom, I'm not sure if that's even it but you could research online and check the symptoms.
